Pokemon Go January 9, 2024 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, January 8th, 2024 3:43 pm

Players can receive extra Pokemon Candy for a limited time.

The next Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event will take place on January 9, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

During this event, Eevee will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokemon from the first generation of the Pokemon universe. It can be evolved into eight different Pokemon: Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, Leafeon, or Sylveon. To learn more about evolving Eevee into these different Pokemon, check out our guides.

To make the most of this week’s Spotlight Hour event, remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. This will give you more Eevee to encounter and more chances to potentially find a Shiny one.

You can also toss Pinap Berries at Pokemon to double the number of Pokemon Candy you receive when you capture them. This Pinap Berry bonus will stack with the Spotlight Hour bonus, allowing you to earn lots of Pokemon Candy for each Pokemon you capture during this event.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour event, three more of these events are scheduled to take place in January 2024. Here’s the schedule:

  • January 16, 2024 – Ralts will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when transferring Pokemon.
  • January 23, 2024 – Barboach will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when evolving Pokemon.
  • January 30, 2024 – Foongus will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon.
