Mark your calendars!

As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about the next Pokemon Go Community Day event that will take place in Pokemon Go.

The next Pokemon Go Community Day event will take place on July 30, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During this event, Poliwag will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will have the chance to encounter Shiny Poliwag. Shiny Poliwag is a lighter blue color when compared to regular Poliwag.

Poliwag is a Water-type Pokemon from the first generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Poliwag into Poliwhirl using 25 Poliwag Candy. You can then evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath using 100 Poliwag Candy, or evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed using 100 Poliwag Candy and a King’s Rock.

Each time players evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath during this event, or during the five hours immediately following it, Poliwrath will learn the move “Counter.”

Each time players evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed during this event, or during the five hours immediately following it, Politoed will learn the move “Ice Beam.”

A number of in-game bonuses will be active during this Community Day event:

  • Eggs will hatch after walking 1/4 of the normal required distance if they’re placed into Incubators during this event.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • There will be twice the normal chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 in Pokemon Go to receive Candy XL when catching Pokemon.
  • Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Players will be able to take Snapshots of Pokemon to receive encounters with Poliwag.

Two more bonuses will be available from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time on July 30, 2023:

  • Players will be able to make one extra Special Trade.
  • Trades will require 50 percent less Stardust to perform.

During this Community Day event, players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks to earn King’s Rocks, Ultra Balls, encounters with Poliwag, and other in-game rewards. Timed Research tasks will also be available. When players complete these Timed Research tasks, they’ll receive King’s Rocks.

Players will be able to collect event-themed stickers during this event by spinning the Photo Discs at PokeStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them in the in-game shop.

Players will also have the option to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to a Special Research storyline during this Community Day event called “Slippery Swirls.” Players will have the option to purchase one of these tickets for themselves, and they’ll also have the option to purchase a ticket for their in-game friends.

Finally, on July 30, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, players will be able to battle Poliwhirl in Tier-4 Raids. When players defeat Poliwhirl in one of these Raids, Poliwag will appear around the Gym that hosted the Raid for 30 minutes. You can learn more about these Tier-4 Raids on the Pokemon Go website.
