Pokemon Go October 17, 2023 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, October 16th, 2023 2:04 pm

Players can earn extra Stardust for a limited time!

The next Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event will take place on October 17, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

During this event, Pumpkaboo will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon.

Pumpkaboo is a Ghost- and Grass-type Pokemon from the sixth generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Pumpkaboo into Gourgeist using 200 Pumpkaboo Candy. Pumpkaboo can also be evolved into Gourgeist without using Pokemon Candy if Pumpkaboo has previously been traded.

Shiny Pumpkaboo is available in Pokemon Go. Shiny Pumpkaboo is black and purple, rather than brown and peach.

To make the most of this week’s Spotlight Hour event, remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. This will give you more Pumpkaboo to encounter and more chances to potentially find a Shiny one.

Also remember that you can activate a Stardust to increase the amount of Stardust you receive for 30 minutes. This Stardust bonus will stack with the Spotlight Hour bonus, allowing you to earn lots of Stardust for each Pokemon you capture during this event.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour event, two more of these events are scheduled to take place in October 2023. Here’s the calendar:

  • October 24, 2023 – Phantump will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.
  • October 31, 2023 – Yamask will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
