Word Pop challenges you to create words using a random assortment of letters.

Zynga, the maker of mobile games like Words With Friends 2 and Wonka’s World of Candy, launched a new word game on Alexa devices.

Words With Friends Word Pop gives players a random group of six letters, and then asks them to create as many 3-6 letter words as they can using those letters in 60 seconds. The longer the word, the more points players will receive.

For instance, in our first game, we received the letters “M, S, R, A, E, and R.” We could then use those letters to create words like “same” and “era.”

If you’re playing Word Pop on a device with a screen, you can watch the screen to reference the letters you’ve been given and see all of the words you’ve spelled. If not, you can quickly write down the six letters you receive at the beginning of the game so that you can reference them throughout the entire round.

In a press release, Bernard Kim, president of publishing at Zynga, commented on Word Pop:

“I’m thrilled that by adding Word Pop to the Words With Friends family, players will be able to test and improve their word skills, making them even better Words With Friends players. The beauty of Words With Friends is that even after ten years, we’re still discovering new ways for the franchise to bring joy to players around the world. We’re dedicated to experimenting with services such as Alexa and game modes like Word Pop, which gives players a familiar, yet novel experience.”

Word Pop can be played on any Alexa-enabled device, such as the Echo Dot or Echo Show. If you want to try the game on your own device, say “Alexa, open Word Pop.” This will automatically enable the title on your device and start the first game.
