The Sega Genesis Mini 2 Will Be Released in October

The console will come with more than 50 games pre-installed.

In 2019, Sega released the Sega Genesis Mini, a small console inspired by the original Sega Genesis console. The Sega Genesis Mini included 42 pre-installed games, such as the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Ecco the Dolphin.

Now, Sega has revealed the Sega Genesis Mini 2, an updated version of the Sega Genesis Mini that includes a different selection of games.

The Sega Genesis Mini 2 is designed to resemble the Sega Genesis Model 2 console. It will come with one wired, six-button controller, a USB power adapter, a power cable, and an HDMI cable. In addition, the controllers that were released for the original Sega Genesis Mini will also be compatible with the Sega Genesis Mini 2.

More than 50 games will come pre-installed on the Sega Genesis Mini 2, including Sega CD games and a “bonus game” that has never been previously released.

As of this writing, Sega has revealed 23 of the games that will come pre-installed on the system:

  • Shining Force CD
  • Silpheed
  • Mansion of Hidden Souls
  • Night Striker
  • The Ninjawarriors
  • After Burner II
  • OutRun
  • OutRunners
  • Virtua Racing
  • Super Hang-On
  • Sonic 3D Blast
  • Shining in the Darkness
  • VectorMan 2
  • The Ooze
  • Bonanza Bros.
  • Alien Soldier
  • Rainbow Islands -Extra-
  • Splatterhouse 2
  • Rolling Thunder 2
  • Lightening Force
  • Fantasy Zone
  • Star Mobile

The Sega Genesis Mini 2 will be released exclusively on Amazon on October 27, 2022. As of this writing, fans can pre-order the console on Amazon for $103.80 plus shipping. This version of the console will be imported from Japan.

The Sega Genesis Mini 2 is rated T for Teen by the ESRB.
