Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Find Gigantamax Meowth in a Max Raid Battle

Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 12:10 pm

There are multiple ways to find one!

From now until June 2, 2020, Gigantamax Meowth is appearing in Max Raid Battles in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Previously, this special version of Meowth was given away as an “early-purchase bonus” to players who purchased Pokemon Sword or Shield and downloaded the pocket monster as a Mystery Gift before January 15, 2020.

If you want to add Gigantamax Meowth to your collection in Sword and/or Shield, our guide is here to help you find one!

To start, head out into the Wild Area and interact with the Pokemon Dens that have beams of light coming out of them.

When you interact with one of these Dens, you’ll see a silhouette of the Pokemon that’s inside. When you see the silhouette in the screenshot below, you’ve found Gigantamax Meowth!

If you check all of the Dens with active Max Raid Battles and haven’t found Gigantamax Meowth, you can make more Max Raid Battles appear by completing all of the battles that are currently available.

In addition, you can make a Pokemon appear in a Den at any time by throwing a Wishing Piece into it. To do this, interact with an inactive Den to collect your Watts. Then interact with the Den a second time. When you’re asked if you want to use a Wishing Piece, select “Yes.” This will cause a Pokemon to appear in the Den, and there’s the chance it could be Gigantamax Meowth. (If you need more Wishing Pieces, they can be purchased from the Watts traders throughout the Wild Area for 3,000 Watts each.)

Finally, if you connect your Switch to the internet, you may be able to join a battle against Gigantamax Meowth that’s being hosted by another player. Just press “Y” on your controller to open the game’s Y-COMM menu, and then press “+” to connect to the internet. Look for the Gigantamax Meowth silhouette on one of the stamps in the list. If you act fast, you may be able to join the trainer’s battle against Gigantamax Meowth!
