This event is coming soon!

The September 2023 Pokemon Go Community Day event will take place on September 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During this event, Grubbin will appear more frequently than normal in the wild and players will have the chance to encounter Shiny Grubbin.

Grubbin is a Bug-type Pokemon from the seventh generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Grubbin into Charjabug using 25 Grubbin Candy, and then evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt using 100 Grubbin Candy when you’re near an active Magnetic Lure Module. You can learn more about evolving Charjabug into Vikavolt in our guide.

When players evolve Grubbin into Charjabug during this event or during the five hours immediately following it, Charjabug will learn Volt Switch. In addition, when players evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt during this event or during the five hours immediately following it, Vikavolt will learn Volt Switch.

A number of in-game bonuses will be active on September 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time:

  • Players will receive three times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • There will be twice the normal chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 in Pokemon Go to receive Candy XL when catching Pokemon.
  • Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Players will be able to take Snapshots of Pokemon to receive extra Grubbin encounters.

Two additional bonuses will be active on September 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time:

  • Players will be able to make one additional Special Trade.
  • Trades will require 50 percent less Stardust to perform.

Timed Research will be available on September 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time. Players can complete this Timed Research to receive a Magnetic Lure Module.

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive Stardust, Ultra Balls, encounters with Grubbin, and other in-game rewards. Players will also be able to enter their Pokemon in Showcases at PokeStops during this event.

Players will have the option to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to a Special Research storyline during this event called “Plugging Along.” Players will have the option to purchase this ticket for themselves, and they’ll also have the option to purchase a ticket for their in-game friends.

Players will be able to collect event-themed stickers by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them in the in-game store.

Finally, players will have the option to purchase a Community Day Box at a discounted price from the Pokemon Go web store.

Once this Community Day event ends, Charjabug will appear in Tier-4 Raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time on September 23, 2023. When players defeat Charjabug in one of these Raids, Grubbin will appear around the Gym that hosted the Raid for 30 minutes. You can learn more about these Tier-4 Raids on the Pokemon Go website.
