This event will feature Team Go Rocket.

As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about a “Taken Treasures” event that’s coming soon to Pokemon Go.

The Taken Treasures event will run from January 27, 2024 at 12 a.m. local time until February 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Once this event begins, Varoom and Revavroom will become available to collect in Pokemon Go. Varoom will have the chance to hatch from the 12 km Eggs players can receive by defeating the Leaders in Team Go Rocket (Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra). Players will be able to evolve Varoom into Revavroom using 50 Varoom Candy.

During this event, Team Go Rocket members will appear more frequently at PokeStops and in the team’s hot air balloon. Players will also be able to use a Charged TM to make a Shadow Pokemon forget the move “Frustration.”

When this event begins, the final portion of the Timeless Travels Special Research tasks will become available. Players will be able to complete these tasks to receive a Super Rocket Radar they can use to challenge Giovanni. When players defeat Giovanni, they’ll receive an encounter with Shadow Kyogre.

Shadow Ho-Oh will also be featured during this event. Shadow Ho-Oh will appear in Tier-5 Shadow Raids from January 27, 2024 at 6 a.m. local time until January 28, 2024 at 10 p.m. local time.

Once this event begins, Team Go Rocket Grunts and Leaders will use different Shadow Pokemon. Players will be able to encounter Shadow Corphish, Shadow Snorunt, Shadow Chimchar, Shadow Piplup, Shadow Croagunk, Shadow Dwebble, and Shadow Ferroseed.

A variety of Pokemon will appear in regular Raids and Shadow Raids during this event:

  • Tier-1 Raids – Alolan Rattata, Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer, and Galarian Zigzagoon
  • Tier-3 Raids – Weezing, Galarian Weezing, Tyranitar, and Bombirdier
  • Tier-1 Shadow Raids – Shadow Alolan Sandshrew, Shadow Murkrow, Shadow Pineco, and Shadow Croagunk
  • Tier-3 Shadow Raids – Shadow Scyther, Shadow Skarmory, and Shadow Golett

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive Mysterious Components, Charged TMs, Fast TMs, and encounters with Ekans, Zubat, Koffing, Paldean Wooper, Hisuian Qwilfish, Poochyena, Sableye, Croagunk, Scraggy, Mareanie, Bruxish, and Nymble. According to the Pokemon Go website, “Pokémon encountered through Field Research tasks will have a greater chance of being a Shiny Pokémon than when found in the wild!”

Players will also be able to enter Pokemon Showcases during this event.

Players will have the option to spend $5 to receive Timed Research tasks during this event. If players complete these tasks before the event ends, they’ll receive Stardust, experience points, one Incense, one Incubator, three Silver Pinap Berries, Pokemon encounters, an avatar pose, and other in-game rewards.

Finally, players will have the option to spend $9.99 on a Team Go Rocket Box on the Pokemon Go Web Store containing seven Rocket Radars, seven Premium Battle Passes, seven Ultra Balls, and seven Silver Pinap Berries.

A different Team Go Rocket Box will be available to purchase in the in-game store for 300 PokeCoins. It will contain one Incubator, one Rocket Radar, and one Premium Battle Pass.
