Pokemon Go Season of Light: Cosmog, Special Research, and More

The Season of Light will feature Cosmog!

The Season of Light is about to kick off in Pokemon Go! The three-month Season of Light will run from September 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time until December 1, 2022 at 9:59 a.m. local time.

During this Season, different Pokemon will have the chance to appear in the wild and hatch from Eggs. You can view the full breakdown of these Pokemon on the Pokemon Go website.

A variety of in-game bonuses will be active during the Season of Light:

  • There will be increased damage for Pokemon that are participating in Raids remotely
  • Players will be guaranteed to receive Gifts when spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops
  • Incense will be more effective while players are moving
  • Players will be able to collect up to two free Raid Passes each day by spinning the Photo Disc at Gyms
  • Players will receive “additional items” when achieving a Research Breakthrough
  • Players will receive an “increased Stardust reward” when achieving a Research Breakthrough
  • Players will receive “[e]xtra Stardust from Gifts”

During the Season of Light, players will be able to complete new Special Research tasks that will become available at three points throughout the season. Here’s the calendar:

  • Part 1 – September 1, 2022
  • Part 2 – October 5, 2022
  • Part 3 – November 23, 2022

According to the Pokemon Go website, this Special Research will focus on Cosmog, a Legendary Pokemon from the seventh generation of the Pokemon universe.

Avatar items inspired by Cosmog will be added to the in-game shop during the Season of Light. Players will also be able to claim Season of Light-themed stickers by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them in the in-game store.

Finally, a variety of limited-time events will take place during the Season of Light. To start, an “Inkay Limited Research” event will take place on September 3, 2022. You can learn more about this event in our previous coverage.
