Pokemon Go October 6 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 7:21 am

Pika-pi!

Trainers, the first Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event for October 2020 is almost here!

This week’s event is pretty unique, since it will allow players to encounter Pikachu that are wearing Ash Ketchum’s “World Cap.” This is the same cap Ash wears in the animated series Pokemon Journeys.

Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for this event.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time on October 6, World Cap Pikachu will appear more often than normal in the wild, and you’ll also receive two times the normal amount of experience points when capturing Pokemon. This experience point bonus will apply to every Pokemon you capture during this event, and not just World Cap Pikachu.

While many recently released costumed Pokemon can’t be evolved (like the Fashion Week Kirlia and Croagunk that are wearing costumes), users on The Silph Road subreddit confirmed that World Cap Pikachu can be evolved into World Cap Raichu. In addition, users on the subreddit confirmed that World Cap Pikachu can be Shiny.

To make the most of this event, remember that you can activate a Lucky Egg to double the amount of experience points you receive for completing in-game actions (like catching Pokemon) for a limited time. You can also activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location during this event. Just remember that Niantic recently changed the effectiveness of Incense so that it will only have boosted “effectiveness” if you’re actively walking.
