Pokemon Go May 4 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, May 3rd, 2021 7:36 am

Bring on the bonus Pokemon Candy!

Trainers, the first Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event for May 2021 is almost here!

On May 4 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, Cottonee will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and you’ll receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon. This Pokemon Candy bonus will apply to every Pokemon you capture during this one-hour window, and not just Cottonee.

Cottonee is a Grass- and Fairy-type Pokemon from the fifth generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Cottonee into Whimsicott using 50 Cottonee Candy and a Sun Stone.

As of this writing, Shiny Cottonee is not available in Pokemon Go.

To make the most of this event, remember to toss Pinap Berries at Pokemon before capturing them. This will allow you to earn even more Pokemon Candy for each pocket monster you catch. Plus, you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time, which will give you more Pokemon to capture and more chances to earn bonus Pokemon Candy.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour, there are three more of these events to look forward to in May. Here’s the schedule:

  • May 11 – Dratini
  • May 18 – Alolan Rattata
  • May 25 – Marill
