Pokemon Go June 23 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 7:30 am

Get ready to earn lots of experience points!

Trainers, another Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event is almost here!

On June 23 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, Clefairy will appear more frequently in the wild, and you’ll earn two times the normal amount of experience points when you capture Pokemon. This experience point bonus will apply to all Pokemon you capture during this event, and not just Clefairy.

Clefairy is a Fairy-type Pokemon from the first generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, Clefairy can be evolved into Clefable using 50 Clefairy Candy.

Even if you already have Clefairy and Clefable in your Pokemon Go collection (and even if you’re already Level 40), there’s still a good reason to play Pokemon Go during tonight’s event: You have the chance to encounter Shiny Clefairy in the wild.

Until recently, Shiny Clefairy could only be obtained by evolving a Shiny Cleffa, which itself could only be hatched from an Egg. (You could also trade with someone to receive a Shiny Clefairy and/or Shiny Cleffa.). Since Shiny Clefairy is now available in the wild, this week’s Spotlight Hour event will give you plenty of chances to potentially encounter this rare pocket monster.

Finally, if you want to make the most of tonight’s event, remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. This will allow you to participate in the event even if you don’t want to leave the house.

Plus, you can activate a Lucky Egg to double the amount of experience points you’ll earn for 30 minutes.

Following this week’s event, one more Pokemon Spotlight Hour will take place in June. On June 30 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, Kricketot will appear more frequently in the wild, and you’ll receive two times the normal amount of Pokemon Candy when you capture Pokemon.
