Pokemon Go January 12 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 7:41 am

Watch out for ghosts!

Trainers, the second Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event for January 2021 will take place on January 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

During this week’s event, Drifloon will appear more often than normal in the wild, and you’ll receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon. This experience point bonus will apply to every Pokemon you capture during this Spotlight Hour event, and not just Drifloon.

Drifloon is a Ghost- and Flying-type Pokemon from Gen IV of the Pokemon universe. It has a single evolution. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Drifloon into Drifblim using 50 Drifloon Candy.

To make the most of this event, remember that you can activate a Lucky Egg during Spotlight Hour to earn double experience points for in-game actions for 30 minutes. This will allow you to earn even more experience points for catching Pokemon during Spotlight Hour.

Plus, keep in mind that Shiny Drifloon is available in Pokemon Go. Since this Spotlight Hour event will allow you to check lots of Drifloon in a short period of time, your chances of finding this rare, Shiny pocket monster will technically be increased.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour, there are two more of these events coming in January. On January 19, Shroomish will be the featured Pokemon, while Phanpy will appear more often during the Spotlight Hour event on January 26.
