Pokemon Go Hoenn Collection Challenge: How to Find Plusle and Minun

Everything you need to know!

Trainers, the 2021 Hoenn Celebration event is happening now in Pokemon Go! From now until January 24 at 8 p.m. local time, players will be able to encounter lots of pocket monsters from the Hoenn region of the Pokemon universe in the wild, in Raids, and more.

As part of this event, players can complete a Hoenn Collection Challenge by collecting nine Pokemon before the event ends: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Aron, Nosepass, Nincada, Bagon, Plusle, and Minun.

While many of these Pokemon can be found in the wild pretty quickly, Plusle and Minun are more difficult to track down.

According to The Silph Road subreddit, during this Hoenn Celebration event, you’ll be able to encounter Plusle and Minun by completing the Field Research task that asks you “Catch 11 Pokémon.”

To be clear, each time you complete this Field Research task, you’ll only encounter Plusle or Minun — not both. This means you’ll need to find and complete this Field Research task at least twice in order to finish the Collection Challenge.

If you finish this Field Research task twice and you receive the same Pokemon encounter as a reward each time (that is, you receive Plusle or Minun twice), you’ll need to keep finding and completing this Field Research task until you eventually collect both Plusle and Minun.
