The 2023 Día de Muertos event is coming soon to Pokemon Go!

The 2023 Día de Muertos event will run from November 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time until November 2, 2023 at 10 p.m. local time.

During this event, Sunkern, Sableye, Roselia, Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown, Drifloon, and Litwick will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown, Yamask, and Phantump will also have the chance to appear in the wild during this event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

Players will be able to use 50 Cubone Candy to evolve Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown into Marowak wearing a cempasúchil crown.

Three in-game bonuses will be available for players around the world during this event:

  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • Lure Modules will remain active for 90 minutes when activated during this event.
  • Incense will remain active for 90 minutes when activated during this event.

In addition, players in Latin America and the Caribbean will have access to one extra bonus during this event:

  • Players in Latin America and the Caribbean will receive more Pokemon Candy than normal when transferring Pokemon.

During the 2023 Día de Muertos event, Sunkern, Sunflora, Houndour, Sableye, Roselia, Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown, and Drifloon will be attracted to Incense and Lure Modules. Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown and Flabébé with an orange flower will also have the chance to be attracted to Incense and Lure Modules during this event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

In addition, on the Pokemon Go website, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, said, “Trainers in Latin America and the Caribbean can look forward to even more encounters with featured event Pokémon when using Incense and Lure Modules.”

A variety of Pokemon will appear in Raids during this event:

  • Tier-1 Raids – Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown
  • Tier-3 Raids – Azumarill, Umbreon, Hariyama, and Bombardier
  • Tier-5 Raids – Darkrai
  • Mega Raids – Mega Banette

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with Sunkern, Drifloon, and Litwick. Players may also receive encounters with Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown and Alolan Marowak when completing these event-themed Field Research tasks, but the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

During this event, players will be able to enter Duskull at Pokemon Showcases found at in-game PokeStops.

Finally, once this event begins, players will be able to purchase a new Día de Muertos avatar item in the game’s store. This item will remain in the store after the event ends. Players will also be able to collect event-themed stickers by opening Gifts, spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops and purchasing them in the in-game store.
