Pokemon Go December 2023 Community Day: Everything You Need to Know

As spotted by Serebii.net, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about the December 2023 Pokemon Go Community Day event that’s coming soon to Pokemon Go.

The December 2023 Pokemon Go Community Day event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on December 16, 2023 and December 17, 2023.

The December 2023 Community Day event will feature Pokemon that were previously featured in Community Day events throughout 2023. A different selection of these Pokemon will appear more frequently than normal in the wild during the event hours on each day.

Slowpoke, Galarian Slowpoke, Togetic, Chespin, Fennekin, and Noibat will appear more frequently than normal in the wild on December 16, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

Poliwag, Wooper, Paldean Wooper, Timburr, Axew, Froakie, and Grubbin will appear more frequently than normal in the wild on December 17, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

In addition, during the last 10 minutes of each hour between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time on both days, Charmander, Squirtle, Mareep, Swinub, and Larvitar will have the chance to appear in the wild.

Players will have the chance to encounter Shiny versions of all of these Pokemon.

Seven in-game bonuses will be active from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time each day during this event:

  • Players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • Eggs placed into Incubators during this event will hatch after walking half of the normally required distance.
  • There will be twice the chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 in Pokemon Go to receive XL Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.

Two additional bonuses will be available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time on both days:

  • Players will be able to make one additional Special Trade.
  • Trades will require 50 percent less Stardust to perform.

Sandshrew, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Geodude, Hoppip, Teddiursa, Galarian Zigzagoon, Spheal, Starly, Roggenrola, Litwick, Deino, and Stufful will appear in Tier-1 Raids during this event.

In addition, Sandshrew, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Geodude, Hoppip, Teddiursa, Galarian Zigzagoon, Spheal, Starly, Roggenrola, Litwick, Deino, and Stufful will have the chance to hatch from 2 km Eggs that are collected during this event.

From December 16, 2023 at 9 a.m. local time until December 17, 2023 at 9 p.m. local time, players will be able to evolve certain Pokemon to have them learn special moves. Here’s the rundown:

  • Charizard will learn Dragon Breath and Blast Burn
  • Blastoise will learn Hydro Cannon
  • Sandslash will learn Night Slash
  • Alolan Sandslash will learn Shadow Claw
  • Alolan Golem will learn Rollout
  • Poliwrath will learn Counter
  • Slowbro will learn Surf
  • Galarian Slowbro will learn Surf
  • Slowking will learn Surf
  • Galarian Slowking will learn Surf
  • Ampharos will learn Dragon Pulse
  • Politoed will learn Ice Beam
  • Jumpluff will learn Acrobatics
  • Quagsire will learn Aqua Tail
  • Tyranitar will learn Smack Down
  • Walrein will learn Powder Snow and Icicle Spear
  • Staraptor will learn Gust
  • Togekiss will learn Aura Sphere
  • Mamoswine will learn Ancient Power
  • Gigalith will learn Meteor Beam
  • Conkeldurr will learn Brutal Swing
  • Chandelure will learn Poltergeist
  • Haxorus will learn Breaking Swipe
  • Hydreigon will learn Brutal Swing
  • Chesnaught will learn Frenzy Plant
  • Delphox will learn Blast Burn
  • Greninja will learn Hydro Cannon
  • Noivern will learn Boomburst
  • Vikavolt will learn Volt Switch
  • Charjabug will learn Volt Switch

Players will be able to evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna from 2 p.m. local time on December 16, 2023 until 6 a.m. local time on December 17, 2023, and from 2 p.m. local time on December 17, 2023 until 9 p.m. local time on December 17, 2023 to receive an Ursaluna that knows the move High Horsepower.

Players will have the option to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to the “December Community Day 2023” storyline during this event. Players will have the option to purchase this ticket for themselves, and they’ll also have the option to purchase the ticket for their in-game friends.

Players will be able to complete Timed Research tasks during this event to receive King’s Rocks, Magnetic Lures, and encounters with Pokemon that were featured in Community Day events in 2022 and 2023.

Players will also be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with Pokemon that were featured in Community Day events in 2023.

Finally, players will be able to collect event-themed stickers during this event by spinning the Photo Disc at Pokestops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them in the in-game store. Players will also be able to enter Pokemon Showcases at PokeStops during this event that focus on Pokemon that were featured in Community Day events in 2023.
