Pokemon Go August 10 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, August 9th, 2021 8:09 am

Here's your chance to catch a regional Pokemon.

Trainers, the next Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event will take place on August 10 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

During this event, East Sea Shellos will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and you’ll receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.

Shellos comes in two varieties: East Sea Shellos and West Sea Shellos. East Sea Shellos is the blue and green version of this Water-type Pokemon, while West Sea Shellos is pink and white.

In Pokemon Go, you can evolve East Sea Shellos into East Sea Gastrodon using 50 Shellos Candy.

As of this writing, Shiny East Sea Shellos is not available in Pokemon Go.

To make the most of this week’s event, remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. Since East Sea Shellos is a regional Pokemon in Pokemon Go, it’s usually only found in certain areas. If you live in an area where East Sea Shellos typically can’t be found, using an Incense will allow you to collect tons of these special Pokemon during this event.

Plus, remember that you can activate a Lucky Egg to earn twice as many experience points for completing in-game actions for 30 minutes. This bonus will stack with the Spotlight Hour experience point bonus, allowing you to earn lots of experience points in a short amount of time.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour, there are still three more of these events scheduled to take place in August 2021. As of right now, only one of the three featured Pokemon for these events has been revealed. Here’s the calendar:

  • August 17 – West Sea Shellos
  • August 24 – An unannounced Pokemon
  • August 31 – An unannounced Pokemon
