Pokemon Go April 13 Spotlight Hour: Everything You Need to Know

Monday, April 12th, 2021 9:23 am

Evolve Pokemon for bonus XP.

Pokemon Go’s next Spotlight Hour event will take place on April 13 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

During this event, Mankey will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and you’ll receive two times the normal number of experience points when evolving Pokemon. This experience point bonus will apply to every Pokemon you evolve during this one-hour event, and not just Mankey.

Mankey is a Fighting-type Pokemon from the first generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Mankey into Primeape using 50 Mankey Candy.

Mankey can be Shiny in Pokemon Go. Shiny Mankey is green, rather than cream.

If you plan on evolving lots of Pokemon during this event to earn the bonus experience points, you may want to consider activating a Lucky Egg. This will allow you to earn even more experience points for each Pokemon you evolve, since the Lucky Egg bonus will stack with the Spotlight Hour bonus.

Also remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. This will give you the opportunity to check lots of Mankey in a short amount of time if you’re looking for a Shiny Mankey for your collection.

Following this week’s Spotlight Hour, two more of these events are scheduled to take place in April 2021. On April 20, Grimer will be the featured Pokemon, while the Spotlight Hour event on April 27 will feature Finneon.
