Costumed Pokemon, daily bonuses, and more!

As spotted by Serebii.net, a new event has kicked off in Pokemon Go celebrating the game’s seventh anniversary (Pokemon Go was released in July 2016).

The 7th Anniversary Party event will run from July 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time until July 12, 2023 at 8 p.m. local time.

Once this event begins, Wartortle wearing a party hat and Blastoise wearing a party hat will become available to collect in Pokemon Go.

During this event, Squirtle wearing a party hat, Pikachu wearing a cake hat, Meowth, Ponyta, and Togedemaru will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Galarian Ponyta and Absol will also have the chance to appear in the wild during this event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other featured Pokemon.

In addition, each day during this event, a different trio of Pokemon will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Here’s the schedule:

  • July 6, 2023 – Bulbasaur wearing a party hat, Charmander wearing a party hat, and Squirtle wearing a party hat

  • There will be an increased chance for Pokemon to become Lucky when traded.
  • Players will have the chance to receive 7, 77, or even more Gimmighoul Coins when spinning the Photo Disc at a PokeStop with an active Golden Lure Module.

In addition to these bonuses that will be available during the entire 7th Anniversary Party event, a different in-game bonus will be available each day during this event. Here’s the calendar:

  • July 6, 2023 – Players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.

  • July 11, 2023 – Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when transferring Pokemon.
  • July 12, 2023 – Players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when evolving Pokemon.

A variety of Pokemon will appear in Raids during this event:

  • Tier-3 Raids – Magneton, Lapras, Flareon, Snorlax, and Sealeo
  • Tier-5 Raids – Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
  • Mega Raids – Mega Blastoise

Players will be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with “Starter” Pokemon from the Pokemon universe, like Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil and Mudkip, among others. These are the Pokemon players could choose from in different generations of the Pokemon video games, like Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue or Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Players will also be able to complete event-themed Field Research tasks to receive Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert Mega Energy.

Once this event begins, players will have the option to purchase the 7th Anniversary Top Set and 7th Anniversary Pants avatar items from the game’s store. These items will still be available to purchase even after this event ends. Players will also be able to collect event-themed stickers during this event by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.

Finally, during this event, players will have the option to spend $2 on a ticket that will give them access to Timed Research tasks that can only be completed while this event is going on. That is, once this event ends, players will no longer be able to complete any unfinished tasks or claim rewards.

According to Leek Duck, here’s what these Timed Research tasks asks players to do, and the rewards players will receive for completing them:
