Experience the Great Calamity in this upcoming Switch game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes place in a version of Hyrule that was devastated by an event called the “Great Calamity,” which took place 100 years in the past.

In a new prequel called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, players will be taken back to the time immediately before the Great Calamity occurred, and they’ll be able to experience the event alongside characters that were introduced in Breath of the Wild.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is an action hack-and-slash game that will have gameplay similar to that of the Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors video games (that is, gameplay will be fast-paced, with a focus on combos and special abilities).

The game will allow players to compete in large-scale battles with multiple playable characters, including Link, Zelda, and the four Champions from Breath of the Wild: Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa. In addition, players will be solve puzzles, unlock new weapons, and more as they progress through the game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is scheduled to be released on Switch on November 20 for $59.99. The four amiibo figures representing the four Champions will also be re-released on November 20 (they were originally released in 2017). While Breath of the Wild was rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB, Age of Calamity has a T for Teen rating.
