Overcooked 2 brings cooperative cooking fun to wacky new environments.
Summer is almost over and kids are about to head back to school, but that doesn’t mean the family fun has to stop. August will see the release of plenty of new video games for kids and families, from cooking game Overcooked 2 to football game Madden NFL 19.

Appropriate For: Kids who are comfortable working as a team and can handle fast-paced gameplay
Overcooked 2 is the sequel to the original Overcooked from 2016. The cooperative cooking game will challenge players young and old to work together to prepare dishes in wacky environments, like a mine, an alien planet, and a magic school. Overcooked 2 will feature more characters and recipes than the first game, and up to four players will be able to cook together either in the same room or through online play.

Little Dragons Cafe

Appropriate For: Older kids who are comfortable with console controllers
This life simulation game will let players join a brother and sister on their quest to raise a young dragon in order to save their mother, who has fallen into a deep sleep. Players will need to manage the family’s cafe and take care of their customers’ desires, explore the world to find the perfect ingredients for their dishes, and make sure they take care of their dragon along the way.

Appropriate For: Older kids with fast reflexes
WarioWare Gold will let players complete over 300 microgames presented by Wario, Mario’s arch-rival from the Mario games. Some of these games are new, while others are “remade classics” from other games in the WarioWare series. The games are split into four different play styles, which take advantage of the 3DS’ many features. Some will ask players to tilt their device or use the 3DS microphone to play, while others will ask players to interact with the touch screen or use the directional pad and buttons. The WarioWare games are full of fast-paced action, so if you’re looking for a slow, relaxing game, this isn’t it.

Madden NFL 19

Appropriate For: Teens who understand the rules of football
Madden NFL 19 is the latest game in the long-running Madden NFL video game franchise. The game will let players build and customize their dream NFL team and compete in both single-player and online modes. While Madden NFL 19 is rated E for Everyone, the game will feature some complex mechanics that younger kids may struggle with.
