Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town: How to Make Yarn and Thread

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 12:05 am

Both of these materials are used to make cloth.

As players make their way through Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, they can adopt a variety of different animals for their farm, including cows, chickens, and alpacas, among others. These animals can be found wildly roaming the farm, or players can purchase animals from the town’s Animal Shop.

While dairy animals will produce different kinds of milk and chickens will produce eggs, animals like alpacas and rabbits will produce wool that can be turned into yarn.

At the same time, players also have the ability to collect a wide variety of grasses that can be turned into thread. While thread and yarn are two different objects, they can both be used to create different kinds of cloth in Pioneers of Olive Town. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about creating yarn and thread!

Before you can create yarn, you’ll need to unlock the Yarn Maker crafting recipe and build one of these machines for your farm. You can build a Yarn Maker using three Solid Lumber, two Iron Ingots, and one Glass.

Once you create a Yarn Maker, you can insert different kinds of wool into the machine to generate yarn of the same type. That is, one Alpaca Wool will become one Alpaca Yarn, and so on. The process of turning one wool into one yarn takes four in-game hours to complete.

Meanwhile, thread can be made in a Thread Maker. This crafting recipe requires 10 Rope and 10 Logs to create. A single Rope can be made using five Grass.

After you build a Thread Maker, you can insert different kinds of grasses into the machine to create thread of the same type. You need to insert three grass of the same type into the machine to generate one thread. For instance, three Mirage Grass will become one Mirage Thread, while three Flexible Grass will become one Flexible Thread, and so on.

Different grasses take different amounts of time to become thread. As a couple of examples, Grass can be turned into Thread in two in-game hours, while Mirage Grass can be turned into Mirage Grass in 10 in-game hours.

Remember, you can build more than one Yarn Maker and Thread Maker on your farm if you want to create more of these materials at the same time.

And there you have it! Now that you know everything you need to know about creating yarn and thread in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, check out our guide that will teach you how to turn that thread and yarn into cloth!

Depending on how many animals you have and how much grass you collect, it may take you some time to process it all into yarn and thread (if that’s what you decide to do). That being the case, you may want to check out the ChargePlay Clutch from HyperX. It can extend your device’s battery life so you can play Pioneers of Olive Town (and other Switch games) for a longer period of time before having to charge your Switch.
