The expansion features a new gameplay mechanic.

The Pokemon Company revealed the next expansion coming to the Pokemon Trading Card Game (Pokemon TCG): Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike.

The Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike expansion will introduce the “Fusion Strike Style” Battle Style to the Pokemon TCG.

A press release offered more information about this new Battle Style:

“Decorated with a hint of purple and pink, Pokémon with the Fusion Strike Style often have attacks that focus on teamwork and reinforce the idea of strength in numbers, as Fusion Strike Pokémon generally benefit when other Pokémon with this Battle Style are in play. In addition, Fusion Strike Style appears on Trainer and Special Energy cards, which tend to assist Pokémon of that particular Battle Style and allow players to build a Fusion Strike Style deck.”

The Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike expansion will have 25 Fusion Strike cards, including Mew VMAX, Genesect V, and Hoopa V. The expansion will also include 20 Pokemon V cards and 13 full-art Pokemon V cards, eight Pokemon VMAX cards, 20 Trainer Cards, seven full-art Supporter cards and one Special Energy card.

The Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike expansion will be released on November 12, 2021. The expansion will be available in booster packs, special collections, and Elite Trainer Boxes.

Finally, the Sword & Shield – Fusion Strike Build & Battle Stadium set will be released on November 26.
