Get ready to explore Pokemon Dens this fall.

In a video presentation Tuesday, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo revealed new details about The Crown Tundra expansion for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

The Crown Tundra is the second add-on in the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Expansion Pass, which debuted in June with the release of The Isle of Armor.

In The Crown Tundra expansion, players will travel to a snowy area of the Galar region, where they’ll meet Peony, who will assign them to be a new Expedition Chief, capable of traveling deep within Pokemon Dens. (In Sword and Shield, Pokemon Dens are where Max Raid Battles take place.)

As part of this expansion, trainers will be able to embark on “Dynamax Adventures” with up to three other players. These adventures will allow players to explore Pokemon Dens and battle the powerful Dynamax Pokemon that can be found inside.

The Crown Tundra expansion will allow players to add lots of new and familiar Pokemon to their collections, including Galarian Slowking. Plus, trainers will be able to encounter every Legendary Pokemon from past games in the main Pokemon series, from Regice and Uxie to Galarian versions of Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. The video presentation said “Some [Legendary] Pokémon are exclusive to a game version,” but we don’t know which Legendaries this is referring to just yet.

Finally, in addition to exploring a new snowy region, The Crown Tundra expansion will allow players to enter the Galarian Star Tournament. Trainers will be able to choose one of the characters from the main game or its two expansions to be their partner and then compete with them to win the tournament.

The Crown Tundra expansion will be released on October 22. If you’ve already purchased the Expansion Pass, you’ll be able to access this new add-on at no additional cost. If not, you can purchase the Expansion Pass now for $29.99. Doing so will give you immediate access to The Isle of Armor, and you’ll be able to access The Crown Tundra once it launches. Just keep in mind that you’ll also need to own the main game of Sword or Shield to access this additional content.

Plus, remember that there’s a separate Expansion Pass for Sword and for Shield. If you want to play through this downloadable content in both games, you’ll need to purchase the Expansion Pass twice.

If your family hasn’t tried Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, you’ll soon have a new way to do so. On November 6, Nintendo will release bundles containing either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, along with each game’s associated Expansion Pass.
