Pokemon Sword and Shield: Take on Gigantamax Toxtricity in Max Raid Battles

Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 7:49 am

A different form will be available in each game.

Trainers, get ready to rock out in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Gigantamax Toxtricity is coming to Max Raid Battles, but it will only be around to challenge (and capture) for a limited time.

From February 6 at 4 p.m. PT until March 8 at 5 p.m. PT, Gigantamax Toxtricity will be available to challenge in Max Raid Battles. While Toxtricity has two different forms, only one form will appear in each game. Pokemon Sword players will have the chance to take on Apmed Form Toxtricity, while Shield players will be able to battle Low Key Form Toxtricity.

If you want to add both of these creatures to your collection, you can either trade with someone who has the form you need, or join a Max Raid Battle that’s being hosted by a player in the other version of the game. That is, if you’re playing Pokemon Sword, you can join a Max Raid Battle being hosted by someone playing Pokemon Shield to encounter Low Key Form Toxtricity and vice-versa.

Any Electric-type moves known by these special Toxtricity will turn into G-Max Stun Shock once they gigantamax during a battle. This move deals damage, and it will also poison or paralyze every opponent.
