Pokemon Sword and Shield: Take On Gigantamax Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth in Max Raid Battles

Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 3:18 pm

A different Pokemon will appear in Max Raid Battles for the next three weeks.

Trainers, here’s your chance to collect Gigantamax versions of Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield!

For the next three weeks, one of these three Pokemon will appear in Max Raid Battles in Sword and Shield. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Gigantamax Pikachu: May 11 – May 18, 2020
  • Gigantamax Eevee: May 18 – May 25, 2020
  • Gigantamax Meowth: May 25 – June 2, 2020

While it may appear as though two Pokemon will be available on the same day (for instance, Pikachu and Eevee on May 18), the official Pokemon website said only one of these Gigantamax Pokemon will be available at a time. In our example, as soon as Pikachu leaves on May 18, Eevee will take its place.

A Gigantamax Pokemon is a special version of a Pokemon, which looks different when compared to the standard Dynamax version of that creature. For instance, Gigantamax Meowth has a very elongated body and glowing eyes.

All three of these Pokemon have been available “for free” in the past as part of the launch of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield on the Switch.

Specifically, if you have “play records” from Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu or Let’s Go Eevee on your Switch (that is, if you’ve played one of those games), you’ll receive a free Gigantamax Pikachu or Gigantamax Eevee, respectively, in Pokemon Sword or Shield, depending on the game you’ve played.

Meanwhile, Gigantamax Meowth was given out as an “early-purchase bonus” for Sword and Shield players from November 15, 2019 to January 15, 2020.

Even though Gigantamax Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth have technically been available before, there’s no guarantee that every trainer already has all three in their collection. We’re excited to see this event come to Sword and Shield!

Keep checking back with SuperParent, as we’ll be sure to bring you guides related to finding all three of these Pokemon in Max Raid Battles.
