Pokemon Sword and Shield: How to Find Heat Rotom in a Max Raid Battle

This unique version of Rotom is appearing in Max Raid Battles for a limited time.

Trainers, as part of a limited time event in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, two versions of Rotom are appearing in Max Raid Battles: Heat Rotom and Wash Rotom.

If you want to battle Heat Rotom and potentially add this pocket monster to your collection, our guide is here to help you find one in a Max Raid Battle!

Before we start, we want to point out that the official Pokemon website said Wash Rotom would appear in Pokemon Sword and Heat Rotom would appear in Pokemon Shield. However, the opposite seems to be true, since we’ve found Wash Rotom in our own Wild Area in Pokemon Shield.

Finally, if you want to find Wash Rotom instead of Heat Rotom, check out this guide.

If you want to find Heat Rotom, first start by checking the Pokemon Dens in your Wild Area that have a light coming out of them.

When you interact with one of these Dens, you’ll see a silhouette of the Pokemon that’s inside. If you see the silhouette in the screenshot below, that’s a Heat Rotom!

If you don’t find Heat Rotom in any of the active Max Raid Battles in your Wild Area, you can cause new battles to appear by tossing Wishing Pieces into inactive Dens. To be specific, you must first interact with a Pokemon Den to collect your Watts, and then interact with the Den a second time to be asked whether or not to use a Wishing Piece.

Once you use a Wishing Piece, a Pokemon will appear in the Den. This Pokemon may even be a Heat Rotom!

Finally, you may be able to find Heat Rotom using the game’s Y-COMM menu. That is, if you connect your Switch to the internet, you can look for trainers who are inviting other players to join their battle against Heat Rotom. Just press “Y” to open the game’s Y-COMM menu, and then look for the Heat Rotom silhouette on one of the stamps. If you interact with this stamp quickly enough, you may be able to join the trainer’s battle against Heat Rotom!
