Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Hit Switch on November 18

The Pokemon Company released new details about the games.

Earlier this year, The Pokemon Company revealed Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, the next entries in the main series of Pokemon video games. Now, The Pokemon Company revealed new details about the games, as well as their release date.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are open-world role-playing games (RPGs) that will allow players to explore an open world on their own and with up to three other players. Players will be able to choose from three starting Pokemon: Sprigatito (the Grass Cat Pokemon), Fuecoco (the Fire Croc Pokemon) and Quaxly (the Duckling Pokemon).

In a new trailer (embedded above), The Pokemon Company revealed some of the new characters and Pokemon players will encounter in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

To start, players will meet either Professor Sada or Professor Turo, depending on the game they’re playing. Specifically, Professor Sada will be featured in Pokemon Scarlet, while Professor Turo will be featured in Pokemon Violet.

Players will also be able to meet Nemona in both games. Nemona is a Pokemon trainer who will be the player’s friend and “guide” as they play.

In terms of new pocket monsters, the trailer showed off Pawmi, the Electric-type Mouse Pokemon, Lechonk, the Normal-type Hog Pokemon (pictured below), and Smoliv, the Grass- and Normal-type Olive Pokemon.

The two Legendary Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were also revealed. Koraidon will appear in Pokemon Scarlet, while Miraidon will appear in Pokemon Violet. Each Legendary Pokemon will appear on the box art for its respective game.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will be released on Switch on November 18, 2022 for $59.99 each. A Double Pack will also be available that features both games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have yet to be rated by the ESRB, but the games will be family-friendly.
