The game has also been updated with a new story chapter.

Pokemon Masters is a free-to-play mobile game on iOS and Android devices, which allows players to collect trainers and their partner Pokemon (known as Sync Pairs) from throughout the Pokemon universe, and take them into Pokemon battles across multiple game modes. (You can learn more about the game in our SuperParent First Look.)

The latest update to Pokemon Masters has added a new mode that allows players to test their skills against Legendary Pokemon.

The Legendary Arena will challenge you to defeat Legendary Pokemon using a limited number of Sync Pairs. These Legendary Pokemon will have high HP (health), and you won’t be able to defeat them in a single battle. Instead, the damage you deal to the pocket monster’s HP will carry over to future battles.

The first opponent in the Legendary Arena is Entei, a Fire-type Pokemon from the second Generation of the Pokemon universe. It will be available to challenge from now until June 24 at 10:59 p.m. PT. You’ll need to have completed at least Chapter 2 of the game’s main story to unlock the ability to challenge Entei in battle.

In addition to this major update, a number of smaller changes and updates have also been made to Pokemon Masters. Here’s the breakdown.

  • A new story chapter has been added to the game’s main story mode. It focuses on Grimsley, who needs to decide whether or not to leave Pasio, the island where Pokemon Masters takes place.
  • Players can now earn Medals for completing specific in-game actions (for instance, by defeating Entei in the Legendary Arena), and then display their three favorite Medals on their profile for other players to see.
  • From now until June 24 at 10:59 p.m. PT, the Sync Pair of Synga Suit Grimsley and Sharpedo is available in the Sync Pair Spotlight Scout.
  • From now until June 17, players can receive free Gems, the game’s premium currency, for logging into Pokemon Masters each day.
