It’s almost May, and that means there are new events and updates to look forward to in Pokemon Go.
Here’s a look at what’s happening in Pokemon Go in May 2022.
From May 1, 2022 at 1 p.m. PT until June 1, 2022 at 1 p.m. PT, players will receive an encounter with Alolan Grimer each time they achieve a Research Breakthrough. As a reminder, players will achieve a Research Breakthrough each time they complete at least one Field Research task on seven separate days (it doesn’t have to be seven days in a row).
Here are the Pokemon that will appear in Tier-5 Raids during the month of May:
Five Pokemon will appear in Mega Raids in May. Here’s the schedule:
A Raid Hour event will take place each Wednesday in May from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During each event, more Tier-5 Raids will appear at Gyms than normal, which will feature the Pokemon appearing in Tier-5 Raids at the time. Here’s the schedule:
A Spotlight Hour event will take place each Tuesday in May from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Here are the Pokemon that will be featured during these events, and the in-game bonuses that will be available.
A few limited-time events will take place in May 2022.
Mega Moment Event – This event will run until May 1 at 8 p.m. local time. You can learn more about the event in our previous coverage.
Pokemon Air Adventures Event – This event will run from May 3 to May 8. Once the event begins, Mega Latias and Mega Latios will become available in Pokemon Go. You can learn more about this event in our previous coverage.
Water Festival Event – This event will run from May 12 to May 20. It will focus on Water-type Pokemon.
Pokemon Go Community Day – Pokemon Go Community Day will take place on May 21. It will feature Alolan Geodude. You can learn more about this event in our previous coverage.
Alola to Alola Event – This event will run from May 25 to May 31. It will focus on the Alola region of the Pokemon universe. (The Season of Alola ends on June 1 at 10 a.m. local time.)
On the Pokemon Go website, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, said the Deino Hat, Goomy Hat, and Noibat Hat that were “rewarded from the Season of Heritage Timed Research will be available for purchase from the in-game store for Trainers who were not able to obtain them previously.”
In addition, Niantic said a Buddy Widget will be released in May, which will allow players to add a widget to their device’s home screen that displays information about their Buddy Pokemon.
