Stock up on Magikarp Candy!
The next Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour event is scheduled to take place on May 17, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.
During this event, Magikarp will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when evolving Pokemon.
Magikarp is a Water-type Pokemon from the first generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Magikarp into Gyarados using 400 Magikarp Candy.
Shiny Magikarp is available in Pokemon Go. Shiny Magikarp is yellow, rather than orange.
To make the most of this week’s event, remember that you can activate an Incense to attract wild Pokemon to your location for a limited time. This will give you more Magikarp to encounter and more chances to potentially find a Shiny one.
Also keep in mind that you can toss Pinap Berries at Pokemon to double the number of Pokemon Candy you receive when you capture them. As of this writing, the “2x Catch Candy” bonus is currently active in Pokemon Go as part of the 2022 Water Festival event. This event bonus will stack with the Pinap Berry bonus, allowing you to earn up to 12 Magikarp Candy for each Magikarp you capture.
Following this week’s Spotlight Hour, two more of these events are scheduled to take place in May 2022. On May 24, Seel will be the featured Pokemon, while Pikipek will be the featured Pokemon on May 31.
