Everything you need to know.

Trainers, the first Pokemon Go Community Day event in 2022 will take place on January 16, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

During this event, Spheal will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and you’ll have the chance to encounter Shiny Spheal, though finding Shiny Spheal won’t be guaranteed.

Four in-game bonuses will also be available during this event:

  • Players will receive three times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon
  • Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event
  • Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event
  • Players can take some augmented reality (AR) snapshots to receive additional Pokemon encounters

Spheal is an Ice- and Water-type Pokemon from the third generation of the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Go, you can evolve Spheal into Sealeo using 25 Spheal Candy and then evolve Sealeo into Walrein using 100 Spheal Candy.

When players evolve Sealeo into Walrein during this event or during the two hours immediately following it, Walrein will learn the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and the Fast Attack Powder Snow.

There will be two optional ways to spend real money during this event.

First, players will be able to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to a Special Research storyline called “The Spheal Deal.”

Next, players will have the option to purchase a Community Day Box for 1,280 PokeCoins. This box will contain 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, five Lucky Eggs, and an Elite Fast TM.

Remember, players aren’t required to spend money to participate in the Community Day festivities. These features are simply available for players who are comfortable spending money to receive extra content.

Finally, players will be able to claim a free box of 30 Ultra Balls from the store during this event.
