Pokemon Go Is Performing Tests Affecting Raid Battle Rewards and Eggs

Only some trainers will be part of these tests.

Trainers, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, is conducting two new tests in the free-to-play mobile game that deal with Raid Battle rewards and in-game Eggs.

First, the Raid Battle rewards test kicked off in the U.K. and Ireland on December 9. In a news post, Niantic said this test will run until “early January” 2021. The developer didn’t provide any specific details about this test or how Raid Battle rewards will be changed during the testing period.

Next, there are two versions of the Egg test that will affect “some Trainers” around the world. These tests will begin on December 11 at 10 a.m. PT.

In both versions of the Egg test, players in the test will be able to store up to three extra Eggs that they’ve received from weekly Adventure Sync rewards and/or Team Go Rocket Leaders, even if they already have nine Eggs in their Egg storage box.

In one version of the test, all of these Eggs (that is, up to 12 eggs) will appear on the same Egg storage screen. In the other version of the test, these extra Eggs will appear in a new “Bonus Storage” area of the Egg tab.

In addition, Niantic said, “Trainers involved in either of the test variations will also notice that newly acquired Eggs will not count toward their Pokémon storage limit until the Eggs are placed in Incubators.”

These Egg tests don’t have a set end date. Niantic said, “Based on the results, more Trainers will be brought into the tests over time.”

We’ll make sure to let you know about any additional tests and changes that come to Pokemon Go in the future, so keep checking back with us!
