What happens if you don't own this Pokemon?

Update (04/28/2022): Therian Forme Landorus is one again appearing in Raids until May 3, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time.

Update (04/06/2021): Niantic announced that Therian Forme Landorus will appear in Tier-5 Raids from April 13 at 10 a.m. local time until April 27 at 10 a.m. local time.

Original Story:

Trainers, the Season of Legends kicked off in Pokemon Go on March 1. As part of this three-month Season, players can complete a new storyline of Special Research tasks called “Season of Legends,” which asks them to capture different kinds of Pokemon and take Snapshots of some Legendary pocket monsters.

You can see everything the Season of Legends Special Research tasks ask players to do in our guide.

The second part of the Season of Legends Special Research storyline asks players to take a Snapshot of Landorus. You can do this by tapping on a Landorus in your collection and then tapping the camera icon to open the game’s AR camera. Once you place Landorus in the world in front of you, you can tap the capture button to take a picture and finish this task.

If you don’t have a Landorus in your collection, you won’t be able to finish this task until you collect one. But don’t panic!

The Incarnate Forme of Landorus has been available to capture a couple of times in Pokemon Go, with its most recent appearance being from March 1 to March 6, 2021. Even though Incarnate Forme Landorus isn’t available to capture right now, the Therian Forme of Landorus will be added to Pokemon Go in the coming weeks. (You can also trade for an Incarnate Forme Landorus right now if you don’t want to wait.)

Recently, Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, released a schedule showing when players will be able to encounter the Therian Formes of Thundurus and Tornadus in March 2021. Therian Forme Thundurus will be available to battle in Raids from March 16 to March 30, while Therian Forme Tornadus will begin appearing in Raids on March 30.

Judging by this timeline, we can make the educated guess that Therian Forme Tornadus will be available in Raids until the middle of April. At that point, we can assume that Therian Forme Landorus will be added to Raids, and that it will also be available for a couple of weeks.

If this turns out to be the case, you can capture a Therian Forme Landorus during this time and use it to complete this Special Research task.

Finally, keep in mind that the Season of Legends Special Research tasks also ask players to take Snapshots of Thundurus and Tornadus. To avoid getting stuck on a task you can’t complete (that is, a task you can’t complete without trading or waiting for these Pokemon to return to the game), make sure to capture at least one of each Legendary Pokemon while they’re available!
