Pokemon Go February 2022: Deoxys Raids, Lunar New Year Event, and More

Here are some of the updates and bonuses coming to Pokemon Go in February!

It’s almost February 2022, and that means there are new bonuses and events to look forward to in Pokemon Go!

Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed some of the content and bonuses players can expect to see in the game next month. Here’s the breakdown!

February Research Breakthrough Encounters

From February 1, 2022 at 1 p.m. PT until March 1, 2022 at 1 p.m. PT, players will earn an encounter with Espurr each time they achieve a Research Breakthrough, and players will have the chance to encounter Shiny Espurr in Pokemon Go for the first time.

As a reminder, players achieve a Research Breakthrough each time they complete at least one Field Research task on seven separate days (it doesn’t have to be seven days in a row).

Season of Heritage Bonuses

As part of the game’s Season of Heritage, two in-game bonuses will be available throughout the month of February 2022:

  • Players will receive more Candy XL when hatching Eggs
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when hatching Eggs

1 PokeCoin Bundles

Each Monday in February, an item bundle will be added to the in-game shop that costs 1 PokeCoin. Each bundle will contain a Remote Raid Pass and other items.

Tier-5 Raids

A variety of Pokemon will appear in Tier-5 Raids in February. Here’s the schedule:

  • February 1 at 10 a.m. local time until February 9 at 10 a.m. local time – Regirock (which will know the move Earthquake)
  • February 9 at 10 a.m. local time until February 16 at 10 a.m. local time – Registeel (which will know the move Zap Cannon)
  • February 16 at 10 a.m. local time until February 19 at 10 a.m. local time – Normal Forme Deoxys
  • February 19 at 10 a.m. local time until February 22 at 10 a.m. local time – Attack Forme Deoxys (the Shiny version will be available for the first time)
  • February 22 at 10 a.m. local time until February 25 at 10 a.m. local time – Defense Forme Deoxys (the Shiny version will be available for the first time)
  • February 25 at 10 a.m. local time until March 1 at 10 a.m. local time – Speed Forme Deoxys (the Shiny version will be available for the first time). Speed Forme Deoxys will not appear in Raids during the Pokemon Go Tour: Johto time frame, which runs from 9 a.m. local time to 9:30 p.m. local time on February 26
  • During the Pokemon Go Tour: Johto time frame (from 9 a.m. local time until 9:30 p.m. local time on February 26) – Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-Oh

Extra Free Raid Passes

From February 16 to March 1, 2022, players will be able to collect up to two free Raid Passes per day (instead of one) by spinning the Photo Discs at Gyms.

Mega Raids

Two Mega-evolved Pokemon will appear in Mega Raids in February:

  • February 1 at 10 a.m. local time until February 15 at 10 a.m. local time – Mega Houndoom
  • February 15 at 10 a.m. local time until March 1 at 10 a.m. local time – Mega Ampharos

Raid Hours

A Raid Hour event will take place each Wednesday in February from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. During these events, more Tier-5 Raids than normal will appear at Gyms, which will feature the Pokemon appearing in Tier-5 Raids at the time.

  • February 2 – Regirock
  • February 9 – Registeel
  • February 16 – Normal Forme Deoxys
  • February 23 – Defense Forme Deoxys

Spotlight Hours

Each Tuesday in February, a Spotlight Hour event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Here are the Pokemon and bonuses for each of these events:

  • February 1 – Litleo will appear more frequently than normal in the wild, and players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when evolving Pokemon
  • February 8 – Spritzee will be the featured Pokemon, and players will receive two times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon
  • February 15 – Koffing will appear more frequently than normal, and players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon
  • February 22 – Voltorb will be featured, and players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon

Limited Time Events

In addition to Pokemon Go Community Day on February 12 and Pokemon Go Tour: Johto on February 26, three other limited-time events will be held in February 2022.

Lunar New Year Event – This event will run from February 1 to February 7, 2022

Valentine’s Day Event – The game’s yearly Valentine’s Day event will run from February 10 to February 14. When this event begins, new Fairy-type Pokemon will be added to the game

Pokemon Go Tour: Johto Leadup Event – This event will be held from February 18 to February 25, and it will focus on Poke Balls.
