Pokemon Go December 2022 Community Day: Everything You Need to Know

This event will take place on two days.

Niantic, the developer of Pokemon Go, revealed details about the December 2022 Pokemon Go Community Day event.

This event will take place on two days – December 17, 2022 and December 18, 2022 – from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on each day.

Different Pokemon will appear in the wild during the three-hour event period each day.

December 17, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time – Sandshrew, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Geodude, Hoppip, Spheal, and Stufful

December 18, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time – Teddiursa, Galarian Zigzagoon, Starly, Roggenrola, Litwick, and Deino.

On the Pokemon Go website, Niantic said, “The Pokémon that appear during this time will have the same chance of appearing as a Shiny Pokémon as those that appeared during their original Community Days. Outside of these times, any of the featured Pokémon may appear from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time on either Saturday or Sunday!”

Bulbasaur, Dratini, and Mudkip will also have the chance to appear in the wild during the December 2022 Community Day event, though the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other Pokemon that will be featured in this event.

A number of in-game bonuses will be active from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time each day during this event:

  • Players will receive two times the normal number of experience points when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal amount of Stardust when catching Pokemon.
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.
  • Eggs will hatch after walking half of the normal required distance if they’re placed into Incubators during this event.
  • There will be twice the normal chance for players who have reached at least Level 31 in Pokemon Go to receive XL Candy when catching Pokemon during this event.
  • Lure Modules will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Incense will remain active for three hours when activated during this event.
  • Players will be able to perform one additional Special Trade each day during this event.
  • Trades performed during this event will require 50 percent less Stardust to perform.

Machop, Eevee, Roselia, Swablu, Duskull, Shinx, Gible, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, and Fletchling will appear in Tier-1 Raids during the December 2022 Community Day event.

Next, players will have the chance to hatch Machop, Eevee, Swablu, Duskull, Shinx, Budew, Gible, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, and Fletchling from 2 km Eggs that are collected during this event.

From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time on September 17, 2022, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time on September 18, 2022, players will be able to evolve certain Pokemon to teach them exclusive moves. Here are the Pokemon and the moves they can learn:

  • Venusaur – Frenzy Plant
  • Sandslash – Night Slash
  • Alolan Sandslash – Shadow Claw
  • Alolan Golem – Rollout
  • Dragonite – Draco Meteor
  • Jumpluff – Acrobatics
  • Swampert – Hydro Cannon
  • Walrein – Icicle Spear
  • Staraptor – Gust
  • Gigalith – Meteor Beam
  • Chandelure – Poltergeist
  • Hydreigon – Brutal Swing
  • Bewear – Drain Punch
  • Obstagoon – Obstruct

In addition, players will be able to evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna during “full moon” periods that will run from 2 p.m. local time on December 17, 2022 to 6 a.m. local time on December 18, 2022, and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time on December 18, 2022. If players evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna during one of these full moon time periods, Ursaluna will learn the move High Horsepower.

Players will be able to complete Timed Research tasks during this event to receive encounters with Pokemon that were featured in Pokemon Go Community Day events in 2021 and 2022.

Players will also be able to collect 2022 Community Day stickers by opening Gifts, spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, and purchasing them in the in-game store.

Finally, players will have the option to spend $1 on a ticket that will give them access to a Special Research storyline during the December 2022 Community Day event called “December Community Day 2022.” Players will have the option to purchase this ticket for themselves, and they will also have the option to purchase the ticket for in-game friends as a gift.
