Pokemon Go 2022 Water Festival Event: Dewpider, Araquanid, and More

Players can catch Lapras wearing a scarf!

The 2022 Water Festival event is coming soon to Pokemon Go!

This 2022 Water Festival event will run from May 12 at 10 a.m. local time until May 20 at 8 p.m. local time.

Once this event begins, Dewpider and Araquanid will become available in Pokemon Go. Lapras wearing a scarf will also be added to the game. Finally, Shiny Binacle will become available in Pokemon Go when this event begins.

A series of bonuses will be active in Pokemon Go during the 2022 Water Festival event:

  • Rainy Lure Modules will remain active for two hours when activated during this event
  • Players will earn more Candy XL than normal when hatching Eggs
  • Players will receive two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when hatching Eggs

A Global Challenge will also be available during this event. The Global Challenge will run from May 11 at 1 p.m. PT until May 21 at 1 a.m. PT. During this Global Challenge, if the entire community of Pokemon Go players catches at least 600 million Water-type Pokemon, an in-game bonus will be activated that will allow players to earn two times the normal number of Pokemon Candy when catching Pokemon.

During the 2022 Water Festival event, Tentacool, Slowpoke, Goldeen, Staryu, Magikarp, Marill, Lotad, Surskit, Carvanha, Wailmer, Tympole, Binacle, and Dewpider will appear more frequently than normal in the wild. Poliwhirl, Mantine, and Alomomola will also have the chance to appear in the wild during this event, but the Pokemon Go website indicated they’ll be rarer than the other pocket monsters that will appear during this event.

A variety of Pokemon will appear in Raids during the 2022 Water Festival event:

  • Tier-1 Raids – Qwilfish, Wailmer, Spritzee, Helioptile, and Rockruff
  • Tier-3 Raids – Alolan Raichu, Lapras wearing a scarf, Feraligatr, Azumarill, and Ludicolo
  • Tier-5 Raids – Tapu Fini
  • Mega Raids – Mega Blastoise

Next, players will be able to complete Timed Research tasks during this event to earn 50 Gyarados Mega Energy, 10,000 Stardust, 1,000 experience points, and Pokemon encounters with Dewpider and Lapras wearing a scarf.

Psyduck, Azurill, Mantyke, Mudkip, Feebas, Binacle, Staryu, and Clamperl will have the chance to hatch from 7 km Eggs that are collected during this event.

In addition, players will be able to complete Field Research tasks during this event to earn encounters with Magikarp, Carvanha, Wailmer, Luvdisc, Binacle, and Dewpider. Players will also have the chance to encounter Lapras wearing a scarf and Marill when completing Field Research tasks, but the Pokemon Go website indicated these encounter rewards will be rarer than the other encounter rewards. Players will also be able to complete Field Research tasks during this event to earn Blastoise Mega Energy and Gyarados Mega Energy.

Finally, once this event begins, a Water Festival Scarf avatar item will become available in the in-game shop. It will remain available even after this event ends.
