Players must give their teammates clues without saying any of the 'taboo' words.

Marmalade Game Studio, the company behind games like The Game of Life 2 and Jumanji: The Curse Returns, has released its latest game on mobile devices: Taboo.

Inspired by the real-world Taboo party game from Hasbro, the Taboo mobile game splits players into teams, with one player on each team being the clue giver in each round. The clue giver will need to help their teammates guess key words written on cards without saying the words themselves or a series of “taboo” words that are listed alongside them.

For instance, one card may have the key word “lasagna” and taboo words like “pasta,” “layer” and “sauce.” The clue giver would need to help their teammates guess the word lasagna by giving clues without saying any of the taboo words or the word “lasagna.”

The Taboo mobile application features a Local Party Mode for an unlimited number of players in the same room, as well as an online mode that supports video chat for up to six players. The game also features a two-player mode for just two people.

The Taboo mobile game includes the original cards seen in the real-world Taboo game, and players can also unlock additional themed decks through optional in-game purchases.

Taboo is now available to download for $1.99 on iOS and Android devices. The game has an age rating of 4+ on iOS and E for Everyone on Android.
