The console will be released ahead of the ‘Super Mario Bros. Wonder’ video game.

As spotted by Shacknews, Nintendo revealed a new Nintendo Switch OLED Model console inspired by Mario.

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Mario Red Edition system will be released on October 6, 2023 for $349.99. The Switch system, Joy-Con, and dock feature a bright red color inspired by Mario’s typical clothing and hat. A silhouette of Mario is on the back of the dock. Plus, when owners open the flap on the back of the dock, they’ll find images of hidden coins from the Super Mario video games.

The Mario Red Edition Switch OLED console will be released two weeks before Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the latest side-scrolling platformer in the Super Mario series. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will take players to the Flower Kingdom, where Mario and his friends will be challenged to defeat Bowser and save the kingdom. The game will support local multiplayer for up to four players in the same room. Players will also be able to play with other people online if they have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will feature a variety of playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Red Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, Light-Blue Yoshi, and Nabbit. The Yoshi characters and Nabbit will be immune to damage, making them a nice option for younger or more inexperienced players, or anyone looking for a more relaxed gameplay experience.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on October 20, 2023 for $59.99. The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. You can learn more about Super Mario Bros. Wonder in the video embedded above.
