The add-on includes new missions to complete.

Minecraft Dungeons was released in May of 2020. The dungeon-crawling adventure game asks players to defeat skeletons, creepers, powerful bosses, and more on a quest to defeat the evil Arch-Illager. (Learn more about the game in our review.)

In July, the game received its first premium downloadable content (DLC) pack, called Jungle Awakens. Now, the game’s second DLC pack has been detailed.

The Creeping Winter add-on will be released on September 8 on Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you own the “Hero Edition” of Minecraft Dungeons — which includes access to the game’s DLC — you’ll be able to access the Creeping Winter content for no additional cost. If you own the standard version of the game, you’ll be able to purchase the Creeping Winter expansion separately, or purchase the “Hero Pass” upgrade to receive both the Creeping Winter and Jungle Awakens DLC packs.

This Creeping Winter DLC will include three new missions that will challenge you to defeat the “Wretched Wraith.” It will also let you collect new weapons, armor, and artifacts for your character.

The release of Creeping Winter isn’t the only update that’s coming to Minecraft Dungeons on September 8. On that same day, a free update will launch for all players that includes some major new features.

First, the update will allow you to talk to the Blacksmith at your camp to upgrade your gear items. You’ll also be able to talk to a new character called the “Gift Wrapper,” who will allow you to trade items with your friends (the game supports multiplayer gameplay).

Next, this update will add new Daily Trials for you to complete in order to earn extra gear. There will be two Daily Trials to complete on the main map each day, as well as one additional Daily Trial to complete for each of the two DLC packs you own (four Daily Trials in total).

Finally, while Minecraft Dungeons is currently available to download digitally, a physical version of the game will be released for Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 8. This will be the “Hero Edition” of the game, which includes access to the Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter add-ons.
