The free app lets you unlock new props through in-app purchases.

L.O.L. Surprise is one of the biggest toy brands in the world, with a slew of dolls and accessories to collect. While the brand’s new L.O.L. Remix toys are themed after music, a new L.O.L. Surprise mobile application focuses on a different kind of entertainment: making movies.

The L.O.L. Surprise Movie Maker app lets fans collect a variety of digital dolls, props, backgrounds, and songs that they can combine to create their own short videos. You can place the items you want in a scene, choose the background music you want to play (if any), and then tap a record button to record a scene.

While you’re recording, you can move items around the scene (for instance, to make it look like a doll is walking), and you can also talk to record your own voiceover for the clip.

When you’re done recording a scene, you can make any changes you’d like to the layout and items you’ve selected, and then press record again to record the next clip.

Once you’re done with a movie, you can name it and save it to the app where you can watch it again later.

You’re only given a small assortment of dolls, props, and other items to play around with, but you can unlock more through optional in-app purchases. Specifically, you can spend real money on coins, which can then be used to purchase “mystery boxes” containing a random assortment of new dolls, backgrounds, props, and more. It’s possible you’ll receive duplicate items as you open multiple mystery boxes, and when you do, you’ll receive some coins as compensation.

The L.O.L. Movie Maker app is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices. It’s rated E for Everyone.
