Complete challenges as you compete in a new limited time mode.

A new event has launched in Fortnite: Battle Royale just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Love and War event will run from now until February 17. It will let players compete in a new community-made limited time mode called Search and Destroy, and complete challenges for a chance to win free items like a Pickaxe and Emote.

In the Search and Destroy mode, players will be split into teams of six, and they’ll be placed on one of two sides: Attackers or Defenders. In each round, the attacking team is challenged to destroy a bomb, while the defenders are challenged to defend the bombsite. One team can also claim victory by eliminating the other team.

Each match of Search and Destroy can last for up to 11 rounds, with the first team to win six rounds being the ultimate winner.

In a blog post, Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, offered a few more details about the mode:

“Earn gold by eliminating enemies, planting or defusing objectives and completing rounds. Gold is used to purchase weapons, shields, and additional building materials. Note: Your gold carries over from round to round but resets after switching sides!”

In addition to this new mode, new Outfits and Pickaxes are available in the in-game Item Shop.
