This will be the first time the game has been localized and released in North America.

The first game in the Fire Emblem franchise, Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, was released on the Famicom video game console in Japan in 1990. Now, the game is being fully localized for a North American release for the first time.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light is a tactical role-playing game that follows Marth on his quest to defend the kingdom of Talys and defeat the Shadow Dragon.

Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light features over 50 playable characters and 20 character classes, which you can mix and match to suit your current quest. This new release of the game will also include some modern gameplay features, like the ability to rewind through turns that you’ve already taken (so you can make different decisions), and the ability to create bookmarks, or save states, that allow you to instantly return to a previous point in the game (among others).

The digital version of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light will be released on Switch on December 4 for $5.99. The game is available to pre-order now on the Nintendo eShop. However, it will only be available to purchase digitally until March 31, 2021.

A 30th Anniversary Edition of the game will also launch in stores on December 4 for $49.99. It will include a code to download the digital version of the game, an art book, a replica Game Pak, a replica game box (including an instruction booklet, protective sleeve, and world map), and a “mini Nintendo Power retro collectible.”

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
