The kart-racing game is inspired by the Final Fantasy franchise.

Square Enix announced Chocobo GP, an adorable kart-racing game starring characters from the Final Fantasy video game franchise.

Chocobo GP will feature multiple gameplay modes, including a Story Mode and a Custom Races mode. Some of the game’s modes will support local (in the same room) and/or online multiplayer. For instance, players will be able to compete in up-to 64-player online tournaments with the goal of being the best racer of the group.

During each race, players will be able to drive through Magic Eggs to collect a material called magicite. They can use this magicite to cast magic spells at their opponents, such as “Fire” and “Aero.”

The game will feature multiple playable characters, including Chocobo, Vivi, and Shiroma, among others. The game’s tracks will be set at locations from the Chocobo and Final Fantasy video games, such as the Gold Saucer and Cid’s Test Track.

Chocobo GP will be released on Switch in 2022. The game has yet to be rated by the ESRB, but it will be family-friendly.
