Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Not Get Stung by Wasps

Here's a quick technique that will help you avoid getting stung by wasps as you collect sticks.

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons is mostly a peaceful experience, there are a few “dangerous” bugs that you’ll need to watch out for as you play. One of those bugs is a wasp, which can randomly appear as you interact with trees, either by shaking them or hitting them with an axe.

If a wasp stings your character, your eye will become swollen, and you can heal yourself with medicine. However, if you get stung a second time before you take medicine, you can actually pass out and will be moved back to your in-game house!

We’re here to share a quick technique that can help you avoid getting stung by wasps when you’re out collecting sticks.

Before we begin, keep in mind that this technique won’t work if you’re hitting a tree with an axe. iI that case, you’ll need to run and try to enter a building as quickly as you can.

To safely shake trees and avoid getting stung, first, pull out your net.

Then, approach a tree so you’re facing the middle of the trunk, rather than standing to the left or right side of it. You can see what we mean in the screenshot below.

If you shake a tree from this position and a wasp appears, your character will automatically turn to face it. When that happens, quickly press “A” to use your net and capture the wasp before it ever has a chance to chase or sting you!

To see this technique in action, check out the video below.

When you shake trees this way, not only will you avoid getting stung, but you’ll also collect wasps that can be sold for extra Bells (remember to donate one to the museum, too)!
