Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Catch a Migratory Locust

Friday, August 7th, 2020 9:31 am

Everything you need to know about this hopping insect.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can find and catch a few bugs that hop along the ground, such as the grasshopper and the rice grasshopper. Another one of these insects is the migratory locust, and it’s now appearing on islands in the Northern Hemisphere.

Specifically, players with islands in the Northern Hemisphere can find the migratory locust from August to November. According to AllGamers, players with islands in the Southern Hemisphere can find them from February to May. The migratory locust can appear at any time between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The migratory locust is similar in appearance to critters like the grasshopper and long locust, and it can be tricky to know exactly which critter you’re looking at as they hop along the ground. Check out our short gameplay clip below to see what a migratory locust looks in action. That way, you’ll have a better idea of what to watch out for sa you play (keep in mind that its body has a lot of brown coloring).

Each migratory locust can be sold for 600 Bells at Nook’s Cranny, or you can sell them for a bit more to Flick when he visits your island. Keep in mind that you’ll need to donate one of these critters to Blathers at the museum if you want to complete your museum collection.
